The session will help students understand the transformative power of a liberal arts and sciences education, which has served as the foundation of higher education across the world for centuries. Students will learn how a liberal arts and sciences education can prepare them to thrive as professionals and engaged citizens. They will also learn about the qualities that leaders in industry are looking for in prospective employees. The presentation will emphasize the importance of developing effective critical thinking and communication skills regardless of academic or professional aspirations, and will give examples of the ways that the discipline of history facilitates the development of these critical skills while at the same time throwing light on how the sciences have helped shape the world we all inhabit.
